Day 200: Gum Springs Campground, Kisatchie National Forest, LA
Gloomy and humid.
We walked around Gum Springs Campground and moved on to Monroe, where we had lined up a Harvest Hosts location, the Chennault Aviation & Military Museum.
The museum features the stories of many who served from WWI to Operation Iraqi Freedom. It is here in Monroe because 15,000 navigators were trained here during WWII, and Monroe is the home of General Claire Chennault, trainer and leader of the Flying Tigers.
After viewing the fine displays, we asked the docents where to eat Louisiana specialties. They recommended the Waterfront Grill. We were delighted with our dinner!
