Day 250: Pond Drive, Lakeland, FL
Sunny and hot.
Detroit Tigers Spring Training: Publix Field, Joker Marchant Stadium
For once, we got to join the family for a Tiger baseball game in Lakeland. For some years my brothers have been coming to spring training here, and more recently, my sister has been joining them. It was very warm today, and when not seated in the stands, very breezy.
The Tiger roster is extra large for spring training and there is lots of participation, which means lots of substitutions, if you are keeping score, like I was.
Today‘s game was a slugfest: Tigers 15, Yankees 11.
Tom and I got into the baseball spirit and got our picture with Paws, the Tiger’s mascot.
Joe, along with Gay, kept score some innings with me.
Jim organized the event. He and friends Rico and Greg have been attending games all week, wherever the Tigers have been playing.
Judy and Pat came over from Fort Myers and completed our cheering section.
Afterwards our group of nine had amazing barbecue at a little diner called The Red Top Pit Stop. Everyone spent the night here at the rental Jim acquired.
It was a perfect day.
