Day 247: River Bluff Circle, DeBary, FL

Sunny and warm.

We tried the boat out! Glen and Dee live maybe a half mile from the St John’s River and a public boat ramp is right there.

We saw at least four individual manatees, six or eight sightings in all. One manatee took a dive like a humpback whale, showing its tail fluke at the end. Seeing the manatees was such a treat – we didn’t expect to see any in the wild today! We also saw lots of birds. Most were ibis, roosting in trees.

We went three miles downstream and back. The boat went from burning light smoke to burning clean.
