Day 214: Laurel Walmart, MS
Raining.
Lee’s Coffee and Tea is the perfect place to spend a rainy day and work on your income taxes. They have screaming fast WiFi, make great breakfasts and lunches, and have an upstairs balcony where you can plug in your computer and have privacy.
We were there all day long. We got a good handle on doing income taxes and analyzing our RV insurance policy.
When we were staying at the hotel in Austin, I caught a program on TV where this couple remodels sad old houses with good bones in Laurel, Mississippi, like Chip and Joanna do in Waco, Texas. Their show is called “Home Town” on HGTV. I noticed that Laurel wasn’t too far away from the Mississippi Gulf, so I talked to Tom into visiting. The problem is, we could not find any way of determining which houses Ben and Erin fixed up so that we could drive by and look at them. So we drove many, many streets in Laurel, looking at houses that Ben and Erin might have fixed up. There are many fine craftsman houses here. Laurel seems like a pleasant, middle-class, somewhat sleepy town. Maybe the rain made it sleepy.
