Day 213: Buccaneer State Park, MS
Sunny and warm.
Today was soooo delightful. We drove along the Mississippi Gulf Coast in sunshine.
In Pass Christian we had coffee overlooking the water.
Then we had redfish and oysters in Gulfport overlooking the water.
In 2006 I helped chaperone a Saline Fiddlers (high school performing group) trip to this area. The Fiddlers entertained at some work camps, where masses of volunteers were assisting with cleanup and repair after 2005 Hurricane Katrina. The Mississippi coast was a mess. Broken signs and houses, broken everything, and lots of debris on the beach, in the water, and everywhere else.
Now the only telltale signs of the storm are driveways from where homes used to be here and there. The homes all look new. Everything looks new. And beautiful.
Looks beautiful!!
