Day 170: Mustang Island State Park, TX
Cloudy, warm, humid.
We stayed at the state park all day, not driving any where.
This park was hit hard by Hurricane Harvey in September 2017. The buildings were ruined. They just opened the brand new restroom this past August, and the office for the park is still a trailer.
We had two nice long walks on the beach at the state park. The morning was calm and warm. The wind had picked up and the temperature dropped twenty degrees for the afternoon walk. The shore birds were holding their own, all facing into the wind.
A Great-tailed Grackle made friends with us today. She was missing one foot and balanced on her leg and other foot. She stood by the open camper door for the longest time, waiting for an invitation to come in. But we just talked to her. I was very tempted to feed her, but the flock would have all been here in a heartbeat.
When we walked on the beach this afternoon, there was the same one-footed bird on the beach! Did she follow us?
Omg she followed you awwwww how sweet
