Day 138: Cave Creek Regional Park Campground, AZ

Sunny and warm.

Tom made arrangements for us to visit with a fellow Rawsonville retiree. Tony and Tammy live in a fairly modern neighborhood in Mesa. They have a beautiful home with western decor, a pool in the back yard and lots of flowers. We hit it off with them and didn’t stop talking for about four hours. I had never met either of them before but had a great time learning about how their lives have changed since retirement.

We managed to get one of the few remaining sites at the Lost Dutchman Campground near Apache Junction, Arizona. We had a nice campfire for some hours, again with a mostly full moon and a shooting star.

I must confess we have some apprehension about traveling further south where we would be close to the border. Tomorrow being a Friday, we expect the campgrounds will fill up early. We do not really wish to camp out in national forest land this close to the border. We head for the Tucson area in the morning.
