Day 49: Homer, AK

Partly sunny and warm.

We left Homer and again drove past North America’s Most Westerly Highway Point, past Ninilchik, where we remembered to pick up some smoked pork chops, past the road to Hope and Beluga Point, and on to Anchorage , with the intention of going to Wrangell-St Elias National Park.

We drove by some wildfires on the Kenai Peninsula near Cooper Landing. Despite the heavy smoke, there were lots of people fishing in Kenai Lake!

We found out later that the stretch of highway was closed the next day.
