Day 216: Gulf Coast Gator Ranch , Moss Point, MS
Raining.
We checked out the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum in Biloxi. I guessed what impression I was most left is the great number of hurricanes the Mississippi coast has endured!
Firstly the museum presented a long time line about the history of Biloxi. Most decades were interrupted with at least one hurricane. Secondly, the museum presented two videos, at least an hour long each, about Camille in 1969 and Katrina in 2005. I learned not to hang around and “ride out” a hurricane.
We did some trail walking at the Gulf Coast National Seashore, and tried Tay’s barbecue, at a gas station in Moss Point. Possibly the best ribs I ever had. And they were awesome with or without sauce.
Back in Lake Charles, we were told that many cooks start out in gas stations and the food can be excellent. So we are not afraid of gas station ribs!
I never understood why people stay and try to ride out hurricanes, no possessions you own are worth that kind of risk. Tony would love the ribs, he orders ribs alot when we go out…..sounds delightful

Tony, those ribs at Tay’s were some of the best that Tom has every had, and to think you get them at a Shell station is a wonder. Sure beats hot dogs on rollers.

I remember Camille, we fled to our cousins in Birmingham, Al. Afterwards we went and saw the devastation of the hurricane. My father grew up in Gulfport!
