Day 117: Veterans Park Campground, Monterey, CA
Sunny and hot.
I think we gave Monterey a good day of it. First thing we did was go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The old saying is right, you get what you pay for. At 50 bucks each, it was a high price, plus $10 to park. But I would say it was worth it. They have docents all around to help explain what you are seeing to you or answer your questions.
I learned that the seas are warming up as part of global warming, and that I should order my fish from a sustainable source. Seriously though, one of the coolest things was a live narrated video presentation about what is found deep under the sea. The Monterey Bay apparently is as large under water as the Grand Canyon is. So they send deep diving robots down to photograph the exotic and beautiful creatures that live in the deep.
We did a lot of walking around Cannery Row and Fisherman’s Wharf and the town is quite beautiful, especially late afternoon.
It is 7:30 and very dark. I can see lots of stars, but not quite as many as on a clear night in Saline.
Waah! I miss all of it but don’t think it was 50 a person back when we went

You probably got a military discount, or access pass discount. We were asked if we got any discounts, and I said, No we’ll just bleed.
