Day 241: Holder Mine Campground, Withlacoochee State Forest, FL

Cloudy and warm.

After getting some nice showers at the Holder Mine Campground, we went back to the Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. We saw lots of animals that either were on the endangered species list, or still are on the list: whooping cranes, bald eagles, golden eagles, Florida panther, bobcat, Florida black bear, alligators, manatees, wood stork, and a 60-year-old hippopotamus, Lu. For $13 each, this park is a good value. We picknicked there and moved on.

We went to The Villages to visit Saline friends Ed and Barb. I’ve heard a lot about The Villages and wanted to get a look at it. Unfortunately, it was rainy and dark. We had dinner together and left. All I saw was a neighborhood of nice, smallish homes.

It was nearly 10 pm when we got to DeBary and crashed in Glen and Dee’s driveway. I’ve got a cold now, after just getting over the flu.
